First Blog

hey everyone my name is David Frick. I'm from Oklahoma City, and i'm currently a sophomore at TCU. Right now i'm a business major, but could change.

I chose to take this class because I have always had a big interest in politics. I have never been big on Shakespeare, or old poetry, and would prefer not to write about that kind of English. So this class is a good opportunity for myself to actually write about something I am interested in.

I would say that my writing experience is fairly good, but most of my writing is through e-mails. I have never been one to just pick up a pencil and write a poem, short story, or an essay. For the most part I do like to write, but only if I know or am interested in the subject. I feel like I have had a lot of experience writing, but I'm still far from perfect.

I'm very interested in politics on the national and state levels. Local level of politics, although very important and in many ways the backbone of the government i'm just not very interested in it. I feel like the local level has a lot small, meaningless fights that makes little to no change. My interest in politics grew with the historic primaries of both parties. Last year i was reading many articles and a couple books about voting and America's democratic process. I also watch a lot of political shows. Vote splitting is one of the aspects of the democratic process that I find most fascinating and disappointing. It's unfortunate that it happens but it is almost completely unavoidable.

I have read and understand and agree with what is in the courses syllabus.
